WEST HAVEN, Oct. 2, 2018 — The City Council is looking for a qualified individual to serve as clerk of the council.
The clerk shall be responsible to make and keep a journal containing a record of all votes and all other proceedings at all council meetings.
The council typically meets at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. There are also special meetings and committee meetings that the clerk will have the same responsibilities. The average number of meetings per year are 35.
The clerk shall post and serve notices that may be required by the council and shall have the power to issue certified copies of any order, rule, regulation or ordinance issued or authorized by the council. It shall be his or her duty to transmit, or cause to be transmitted, any order issued by said City Council to any person to whom it is intended; and he or she shall keep a proper record of all orders, rules, regulations and a properly indexed book of ordinances adopted by the council.
The applicant must possess strong communication skills and be proficient in recording, creating and maintaining meeting minutes. The applicant must be able to operate electronic audio and video equipment, a desktop and/or laptop computer, and must be proficient in Microsoft Word and email.
The position receives a monthly stipend; no other benefits are provided.
