I have been a resident of Thomas Street for 6 years. During the summer months it has always been difficult to find a parking spot due to the beach-goers that park their cars here to avoid paying parking fees. Now that the parking ban stops at Thomas Street it has been impossible to find a parking spot.
If you were to drive down Thomas right now you will see 3 cars that are parked in the wrong direction at the corner of East and Thomas. They all drove down the one way going the wrong direction, parked their cars illegally, and left for a day at the beach. We NEED Thomas Street to be added to the resident parking only list as soon as possible. There are at least 5 cars that are not residents of this town/neighborhood currently parked here and this is the new normal since the parking ban was put into affect (it was bad enough before). Not to mention the amount of trash and litter that has been tossed into the street.
Please add Thomas Street to the resident parking only ban. Thank you.

I have been a resident of Thomas Street for 6 years. On Tuesday April 20th 2021 there was a road construction going on in Knox st. Apparently they had signs on, however none of the signs were visible to us at 9pm on April 19th when we parked at the usual street parking. Due to covid we didn’t go out on April 20th until evening when my friend wanted to head out for something when he realized his car was missing. My landlord gave only one parking sticker for 1 bed apartment when two is allowed and hence we park by the street. Why can’t there be a proper no parking board instead of some paper which someone might have ripped off or was dissolved in rain. Where exactly was these sign? Unfortunate we have to pay hefty fine for something like this. Also, where can we find the exact breakup of these fines so we know the towing coming won’t rip our pockets? I see new haven website shows $77 for towing plus $20 additional each night. How do I know I am not being looted tomorrow when I go to get the car?
