Youth and Family Services

Youth and Family Services operates as a separate municipal department of the City of West Haven under the auspices of the Department of Human Resources. As an agency, it receives financial assistance from the City of West Haven, the West Haven Community Development Administration, and the state Department of Children and Families, Judicial Department Youth Violence Division and Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. It is required to provide support services for children ages birth to 21 and their families. These services include:
  • Advocacy for youths and families.
  • Community coordination.
  • Individual, group and family therapies.
  • Positive youth development programs.
Youth and Family Services maintains professional, certified staff and qualified parent volunteers who also serve on various boards and committees; provide treatment and case management intervention; develop and facilitate a number of specialized programs, including English and Spanish parent support groups for those who have special needs children, social groups for adolescent and young adults with special needs, family-centered programs, and summer enrichment activities.

Marriage & Family Clinic

The clinic provides therapeutic counseling services for West Haven residents. Services include family therapy, couples therapy, individual therapy, parenting groups and group therapy, as well as consultation and referral services.
