WEST HAVEN, June 20, 2016 — The 2016 WimBash Beach Festival will feature members of Grammy-winning band Living Colour and other monsters of rock.
The benefit concert is set for Saturday, Aug. 13, in Old Grove Park. Bands and times are forthcoming.
For the second straight year, the festival, presented by legendary Living Colour and Sugar Hill Records bassist Doug Wimbish, will showcase the musical chops of the WimBash All-Star Band.
The All-Stars, composed of a passel of rock royalty, will perform a fist-pumping selection of rollicking rockers and a treasure-trove of funky nuggets that chronicle the annals of rock ’n’ roll.
The WimBash Music Festival Series, a charity founded by Wimbish that includes the festival and other fundraising events, has raised $10,000 for the school district’s music program to date.
The Hartford native organized West Haven’s first WimBash Beach Festival last August and donated the $7,000 proceeds to the music program, which recently paid for new instruments at Carrigan Intermediate School.
This year’s event will once again spotlight a beer garden and a convoy of locally owned food and dessert trucks along Palace Street.
